If you have a hiking enthusiast in your life, you know how difficult it can be to find the perfect gift, especially last minute. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We’ve rounded up the best hiking gifts available on Amazon, so you can find something for everyone on your list (and have it delivered quickly).
These are not going to be ‘core essential’ items like sleeping bag, tents, backpacks etc because those items can and should be highly dependent on the hiker’s personal preferences. And they likely already have their kit setup.
What To Get On Amazon For Hikers
1) Peak Design Capture Camera Clip V3
For the hiker that always likes to bring their camera with them while hiking. It clips onto your backpack strap so you have easy access to the camera.
Peak Design is a great company. They make a lot of camera straps, bags, and a really awesome tripod. And most of their gear works great with one another. Like the Plate in this bundles will also work with their straps and tripod.
2) Hydro Flask Wide Mouth Bottle with Flex Cap
The Hydroflask water bottle is great for hiking and can make for a great post-hike hydration tool if your favorite hiker already has their hydration dialed in.
It’s “double wall vacuum insulation protects temperature for hours” Meaning cold water can remain cold water while baking in the car during a hike. Maybe not a whole weekend out and about, but it should still be drinkable.
My 32oz Hydroflask almost lives in my car. Or at least in my daybag. Where it stays ready for me to enjoy post run, hike, work, whenever.
3) Crocs Unisex-Adult Classic Clogs
Hate wearing muddy hiking shoes in your favorite coffee shop post-hike or on your drive home? Enter Crocs! If your favorite hiker person doesn’t have a pair a Crocs, you may want to consider grabbing them a pair.
Perfect to keep in the car or even attached to the backpack for a camp shoe.
Customize them by also grabbing a few Jibbitz, aka charms to show off their favorite sports, hobbies or even favorite Disney characters.
4) Smartwool Hiking Crew Socks – Medium Cushioned Wool Performance Sock
These Smartwool socks are awesome for hiking in the cooler months. And have a good amount of cushioning to them as well. I have a bunch of these. Wool is great for keeping in heat even if it gets wet or really sweaty after a long hike.
Smartwool has thinner socks for warmer weather. So I’d recommend checking out the brand and seeing what all they have to offer.
5) Black Diamond Equipment – Spot 400 Headlamp
A great compact headlamp with 400 lumen max output, perfect for your night-time hiking needs!
It can also be used for trail running or as a spare light source in your car. I’ve got a few stashed away in key spots, like glove box and my everyday backpack in case I forget to grab mine for post work runs in the wintertime.
6) Stanley Classic Flask 8oz with Never-Lose Cap
Perfect for hikes all year round, but especially when helping you stay warm around the campfire in the winter camping months. It’s tough, durable and is one of my favorite hiking gifts from Amazon to give out!
7) I’d Rather Be Hiking – Funny Socks Novelty Gift
Can’t make a list like this without putting any humorous items on there can we. Here’s a great novelty sock that says “I’d Rather Be Hiking”
8) Smartwool 250 Baselayer Crew
Perfect for when the temperature drops. Smartwool’s merino wool is excellent at retaining heat even when wet or damp while also not itching. This can used as sleepwear, a baselayer or on it’s own while hiking and exploring.
9) Yaktrax Walker Traction Cleats for Snow and Ice
A great piece of gear to have in the car at all times. You never quite know when they’ll come in handy.
I once had to use mine while out on a 10 mile overnight hike into Harpers Ferry, WV on Halloween weekend. Me and my buddy anticipated rain with colder temps once we got the trail, but instead we were greeted with a beautiful snowfall once we got to the parking lot.
Not quite knowing what type of terrain we would come up against and how long the snow would last, I grabbed my Yaktrax.
Although I didn’t quite need them during the hike, the bridge into the town was frozen over and I was slipping all over the place. Threw on my Yaktrax and I was good to go.
10) 100 Hikes of a Lifetime: The World’s Ultimate Scenic Trails
I don’t know about you, but I love travel images. They inspire me and help drive me to keep trying to venture out beyond my own backyard.
This book will do exactly that for whoever you decide to gift it too. Or even if you decide to buy one for yourself as well!
11) BioLite HeadLamp 330 Lumen No-Bounce Rechargeable Head Light
Another headlamp that made the list. This one is popular for being super lightweight and having a very simple, streamlined designed.
Perfect for hiking and even trail running.
12) GoPro HERO11 Black – Waterproof Action Camera
Help them record their own content while out on the trails. I just used mine to record a hike/trail run out in Washington Park in Oregon.
The video quality, in camera stabilization and app editor make it a breeze to produce high quality videos. Perfect for YouTube, IG Reel, TikTok and whatever else is out there nowadays.
13) CLIF BARS – Energy Bars – Best Sellers Variety Pack
My go-to energy bar for hiking. I love the Chocolate Brownie and Peanut Butter Crunch flavors, with Chocolate Chip rounding of the trifecta. What better than have all ‘best’ flavors in one order….(Best Flavors being my favs of course)
14) Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier
Another go-to item. Hydration and replacing your precious electrolytes is super important when out hiking. Electrolyte powder packets are one of the easiest ways to get this done.
My favorite is the Liquid IV brand. Not too salty, great flavors and super easy to carry just about anywhere. I always have a few of these stashed in my pack on long trips.
15) The Lost Art of Reading Nature’s Signs: Use Outdoor Clues to Find Your Way
Explore and understand the great outdoors as seen through the eyes of master outdoorsman Tristan Gooley. It has a bunch of short but useful pieces of information about the nature around us.
16) GU Energy Original Sports Nutrition Energy Gel, 24-Count
Bringing these items over from my trail running side. Gels are great for a quick boost of energy, both due to calories and even caffeine if one of the specific flavors has it.
I’ll typically pack a few of these as snacks or to help out when trying to crank out those last couple miles so I can make camp at a decent time.
17) Peak Refuel Beef Stroganoff
Just about every hiker has a way of cooking while out on the trails. Although it might not be their preference, they still have the stove. Someone like me, I prefer bringing dry food and not worrying about boiling water and waiting the time to cook my food, but…..
Sometimes you just get that craving for a nice hot meal while out hiking. These are great for that, plus you can never go wrong with Beef Stroganoff!
18) Nuun Sport: Electrolyte Drink Tablets, Variety Pack
Another electrolyte recommendation here. These have been around a little bit longer than Liquid IV so people might be a little more familiar with these guys. But they’re tablets you drop into water like alka seltzer.
Nuun comes in various flavors with the tablets all packed into a little pack safe tube. I like the Lemon-Lime and Tri-Berry flavors the most. The recommended variety pack contains both of those flavors.
19) Funny Camp Mug Enamel Camping Coffee Cup Gift
Another novelty item here. And one can’t have too many coffee mugs right?
20) LifeStraw – Personal Water Filter for Hiking
Wouldn’t really use this as a primary water filter while hiking, plus your favorite hiker likely already has their favorite filter. But this will make for a great emergency option.
Stash it in a car, bug-out bag or day pack. Never know when it will come in handy.
21) Surviveware Biodegradable Wet Wipes
Sanitation on longer hikes can sometimes be a challenge. Or maybe a quick trip into town is needed after hard sweaty hike. Have wet wipes on hand is great for these situations.
22) Pocket-sized Experience Hiking Book by Letterfolk
Help them keep track of all of their hikes with this pocket sized hiking book by Letterfolk. It has 20 pages for trail entries plus 8 bonus pages that include checklists, bucket lists, information, and other fun activities.
23) Wise Owl Outfitters Camping Hammock
Hammocks are great for lounging around camp or that spot with the sweet views up top the mountain. Doesn’t have to be used out on the trails either. Could be used down by the river or in a park with a favorite book.
I wouldn’t recommend buying/using this hammack to actually sleep in as it doesn’t offer any rain protection. Something could also be made or purchased to help with that, but this product is more for lounging and hanging out.
24) Favofit Carabiner Clips, 4 Pack, 12KN
No one can ever have enough carabiners. They have so many uses while out hiking and camping. They can help carry crocs, water bottles, or gear that needs drying like towels, rain jackets & hiking shoes. And pretty much anything else that needs securing.
25) Adventure Medical Kits UltraLight and Watertight
Having a first aid kit in pack is a necessity. Whether day hiking, camping or multi-day excursion. Any hiker should always try to have a first aid kit on them.
I like and use this kit because it’s just as the name suggests. Ultralight and watertight!
26) Kershaw Cryo Folding Knife
Always great to have a pocket knife stashed away in your backpack. Never know when you’re going to need it. Food prep, emergency situations, that Bishop stab between the fingers game, you name it.
I have three pocketknives; one in my hiking backpack, one in my everyday bag as well as one in my car.
